Practice History

This practice has been providing medical services to the practice population since 1947, when Dr Saul Ellenbogen returned from overseas military service and started his medical practice here in Gateacre.  He was later joined by his brother Wilfrid who practiced with him from the Hunts Cross Avenue branch surgery until Wilfrid's death in the early 1980's.

Dr Margaret Reid and Dr Peter Reilly joined the practice within 6 months of each other in 1983 and Dr John Caldwell joined the practice in 1989.

Dr Ellenbogen retired in 1991 at the age of 75 years and passed away in 1999.

In 1992 the practice moved to it's current premises at Gateacre Brow and Dr Richard Wood joined the practice the same year.  Dr Wood left in 2002 and was replaced by Dr Joan Hardie.  Dr Hardie left the practice in November 2012 due to relocation and we were very sorry to lose her. Dr Andrea Daley joined the practice in December 2008.

In February 2013 Dr Craig Mason and Dr Fran Watkin joined the practice as new partners.

Dr Udit Gupta joined the practice on 1st October 2014 to cover sessions previously worked by Dr Margaret Reid prior to her retirement on 30th September 2014.

Dr's Reid and Reilly are still very much missed by the patients and staff of the practice.

On 1st January 2016 Dr Zoe Akrivou joined the as a new partner

Dr Smith left the practice in March 2017.

Dr Mason left the practice in November 2017

Dr Caldwell retired on 11th March 2019 after 30 years service to the practice.
