Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescribing is computerised and requests are made by completing your current medication printout which is attached to all prescriptions. The prescription request can be posted or handed in to reception.

These can be ordered electronically if you are registered for Emis Access. Please ask at reception for details.

Telephone requests can only be accepted in exceptional circumstances and usually only for elderly/housebound patients.

All re-issues are at the Doctor’s discretion and 48 hours notice is required. You will be asked to see the doctor if it is considered necessary.  If you wish to alter the prescribed dosage or amount of medication issued, you must speak to one of the G.P.'s rather than amending the form yourself.

You can make arrangements with your local pharmacist to arrange for them to request, pick-up and even deliver your prescription for you if they provide the service.

If you order your prescription on-line, please ensure you LET US KNOW WHICH SITE you wish to collect it from if it is not collected by a pharmacy

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
